In times of uncertainty and hardship, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The recent devastation from Hurricane Helene, which hit Western North Carolina on September 28th, 2024, has left many of our neighbors in need. As they work to rebuild their homes and communities, it’s crucial that we come together and extend our support.
At Unita Yoga, we believe that when you take the time to fill your own cup—through mindful practices like yoga, meditation, and self-care—you can pour out strength and compassion to others. By nurturing yourself, you build the capacity to show up for those who need help the most.
Whether you are practicing yoga to center your mind or meditating to cultivate inner peace, these moments of self-care are powerful tools that enable us to offer our best selves to the world. We invite you to join us in using this energy to support our Western NC neighbors as they recover and rebuild.
Ways to Get Involved:
- Volunteer Your Time: Volunteer organizations are actively seeking people to assist with clean-up efforts and rebuilding projects.
- Yoga for a Cause: We’ll be hosting special community classes in the coming weeks, with proceeds going directly to hurricane relief efforts. Check out our events page for details on how you can support while also deepening your own practice.
- Donate to Relief Funds: Consider contributing to organizations providing immediate assistance. If you are donating new or gently used clothes, be sure to group similar items and label bags clearly. Winter gear, camping items, and cleaning supplies are in great demand.
Donation Opportunities
- West Asheville Yoga Center GoFundMe: All classes are 100% free for the month of October.

Remember, the practice of yoga is not just about what happens on the mat—it’s about how we carry that sense of balance, compassion, and resilience into the world. Let’s come together as a community, filling our cups so we can pour into the lives of others. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for our Western NC neighbors.
In service and solidarity,
